ABOUT THE BEE

A Night at The Bee is United Way of Greater Lorain County’s signature annual fundraiser that has been nominated multiple times as a Best of Lorain County finalist for best fundraiser! 

It’s an interactive game-night style competition for adults across four categories: Spelling, History, STEM, and Art. Teams go head-to-head for the $1,000 grand prize and the coveted traveling trophy!

All proceeds support United Way’s local education initiatives, including our community collaboratives focused on kindergarten readiness and middle school success. 
 

SPECTATOR EXPERIENCE

INDIVIDUAL TICKETS | $55.00

You don’t have to BEE in the competition to have a great time! Spectator tickets include a buffet dinner and one drink ticket. Between the high-energy live competition and a variety of raffles and games happening throughout the venue, you’ll have fun from start to finish!

RAFFLES & GAMES

50/50 HONEY POT RAFFLE

Inspired by a night at the races, the 50/50 Honey Pot Raffle keeps spectators engaged throughout the competition! Purchase raffle tickets and pick which team's designated container, or honey pot, to place them in! As teams are eliminated from the competition, their honey pots (and all the tickets inside) are also removed from play. 

At the end of the night, we pick a single ticket from the honey pot of the winning team and the winner will take home half of the proceeds from the honey pot raffle!

SILENT AUCTION

The silent auction has numerous gift baskets up for auction. Simply write your name down with your bid amount on the sheet next to the corresponding gift basket. At the end of the auction, the person with the highest bid will win the item. Check back often to ensure you still have the highest bid. We’ll give a final warning before we close the silent auction just before the start of the final round. The winner’s names will be displayed on the screen at the conclusion of the competition. We accept cash, check, and credit card on your way out.

CHOICE RAFFLE

Choice Raffle tickets are $5 for 6 tickets or $20 for 25 tickets.

The choice raffle is a combo of a raffle and an auction. Once you buy your tickets, place them in the container next to the prize(s) you want to win. You can put multiple tickets toward the same item to boost your chances - kind of like “bidding” with tickets instead of money. At the end, one ticket is drawn from each prize’s container to pick the winner (must be present to win). The Choice Raffle will close after the Spelling Bee final. The winning ticket numbers will be displayed on the screen at the conclusion of the competition. 

TRIVIA WHEEL SIDEBOARD

$10 = 1 Spin

The trivia wheel sideboard is an opportunity to test your knowledge of pop culture and answer your way into a 50/50 sideboard raffle for a cash prize! The trivia wheel lists different decades: 1980’s, 1990’s, 2000’s, and 2010’s. Each spin gives you the chance to answer a question from the decade shown on the wheel. If you answer correctly, you get to select a number from the sideboard and that number is entered into the sideboard raffle. At the conclusion of the night, we’ll choose a random number, and if your number matches the number drawn, you win half of the proceeds from the sideboard raffle. The Trivial Wheel will close after the STEM Bee final (or when all numbers have been claimed). The winning ticket will be pulled at the conclusion of the competition. 

BOOZY PLINKO

Puck Drop Price: $25 for 1 or $50 for 3

Take a chance at everyone’s favorite daytime pricing game, with a twist! Purchase a puck, drop it, and if you land in one of 3 winning slots, you instantly score a random bottle of bourbon, wine, or other fine booze and an entry into the Plinko Jackpot Raffle. If you land in one of the 2 secondary slots, you win a ticket into the Plinko Jackpot Raffle. 

What’s the Plinko Jackpot Raffle? An exclusive opportunity to win a premium combo pack featuring Clase Azul Tequila Reposado and Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon (must be present to win). These rare bottles are bundled together and valued at over $230. Plinko will close after the History Bee Final (or when all bottles have been claimed). The winning ticket for the Plinko Jackpot Raffle will be pulled at the conclusion of the competition.
