United Way’s signature fundraiser, A Night at The Bee, returns Friday, April 19th at the Lorain County Community College Spitzer Conference Center.
The event is a fun game night-style competition for adults that includes four categories of Spelling (spelling bee), History (trivia), STEM (are you smarter than a middle schooler?) and Art (Pictionary).
The team that fares the best over all categories will win $1,000 cash prize!
The evening includes buffet dinner, drinks, thrilling live competition, diverse silent action, and our unique 50/50 Honey Pot raffle that keeps the crowd engaged in the outcome of the competition.
Spectator tickets are $45 per person and include dinner and one drink ticket. Teams of four players are $200 and include entry into the competition, dinner and one drink ticket for all team members.
Creative team names and themed costumes are encouraged!
All proceeds support United Way’s local education initiatives throughout Greater Lorain County.
Honey Pot Raffle Details: Themed after a night at the races, spectators are actively engaged in the competition through the 50/50 Honey Pot Raffle. Each team in the competition will have a separate container, called a honey pot, used to collect raffle tickets. Spectators then purchase raffle tickets and decide which pot to place their tickets. The pots, and the tickets within them, will be eliminated as their corresponding teams are eliminated from the competition. At the conclusion of the game, one 50/50 raffle ticket will be pulled from the honey pot of the winning team, and the owner of this ticket will win half of the money raised in the entire raffle.
COMPETING TEAM INFORMATION
Every competing team will participate in a single preliminary round via Zoom with their team members, which will be scheduled on a date of their choice between March 24th and April 7th.
The top 4 teams from each category will advance to the in-person event on Friday, April 19 at Lorain County Community College, where both the semifinal and final rounds will take place.
Regardless of advancement, team registration guarantees each team member attendance to the in-person event with drink ticket and buffet dinner.
