DESIGNATION POLICY

United Way of Greater Lorain County (UWGLC) offers investors the opportunity to designate their gift to support specified community impact priorities and community organizations with missions that are consistent with their own values and perspectives.

Investors wishing to designate may do so to UWGLC Community Collaboratives and partnerships, other United Way’s, and/or any organization that qualifies for tax deduction per the Internal Revenue Service in and outside of Lorain County, Ohio. Investors have the opportunity to divide their gift and designate to more than one organization or priority of their choosing.

In order to receive designations, the designated organization must provide certain materials to UWGLC including: Documentation from the Internal Revenue Service of tax deduction eligibility, Anti-Terrorism Compliance Certification, and Electronic Funds Transfer Authorization Form.

In compliance with United Way Worldwide membership standards, some designations will be assessed a fee to cover UWGLC’s administrative and fundraising costs. In committing to lasting change in Greater Lorain County, all designations to qualifying agencies in Greater Lorain County will not receive a designation fee. Gifts to qualifying agencies outside of Lorain County will be assessed a processing fee.

Donations will revert to United Way of Greater Lorain County if the agency does not comply with the United Way of Greater Lorain County’s Designation Policy. Designations made to agencies outside of the Greater Lorain County service area will be assesed fundraising and management fees in accordance with United Way Worldwide standards.
